Every Biker's Nightmare
Several years ago a group of bikers, including Cathy and Don Cousins, owners of Lock Your Leathers, Inc., took a day trip.
Stopping to eat, their motorcycles were parked together in front of the restaurant; it was during this time that many of the soft leather bags were ransacked and robbed.
Although Cathy has soft leather bags, hers were spared because she was parked between two
dressers with locked bags. The violation and theft to the others played on Cathy and Don’s minds. By the time they returned home, they knew that they had to do something.
After doing some research, Don and Cathy found that there wasn't anything on the market to meet their needs
for effectively securing soft leather bags. So Cathy and Don began sketching and developed a hasp-type locking device. View Product Video (16Mb)
Over the next year, Cathy and Don continuously tested and improved their device, resulting in today’s product. Because of the interest
they encountered by others in the device that Cathy was using on her bags, Cathy and Don decided to make their invention available to the public.
A patent search was made, a prototype was developed and patent
was obtained.
In February, 2000, Lock Your Leathers, Inc. premiered at the largest dealer expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In July of 2000, the Lock Your Leathers, Inc. device was presented to the public at Sturgis.
Today, Lock Your Leathers devices are being marketed through motorcycle dealerships, bike expos, rallies, the Internet, and of course, word of mouth. |
